Rack 'em up - Obama to send 30,000 additional troops to Afghanistan
http://www.nytimes.com/2009/12/01/world/asia/01orders.html?_r=1&hp
As expected Obama has decided to increase the American military presence by 30,000. It shouldn't come as a surprise since it was a campaign promise to increase focus on Afghanistan. This despite a recent, loud, rethinking of the Afghanistan strategy by the President and the press. The only part that surprises me is that Obama is said to have asked major allies, France and Britain included, to up their troop numbers but there is no mention of such a request of Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper. Guess Obama respects the fact that Canada is committed to a 2011 withdrawl. Or so we hope.
