Gossip Guys

I know it is so lame to be a twenty-something and to still be into tween entertainment, but I can't help it. I love Miley, the Jonas Brothers and Gossip Girl. Well the hotties from Gossip Girl are all on the cover of Detail this month. All the celebrity blogs have been posting about the image. I have to agree that Chace and Penn's wet hair look is not hot. Frankly I find Chase Crawford to pretty to be hot. I wouldn't kick any of them out of bed though.

My favorite thing about this cover though, and the real reason I posted it is because of the headline "Do you have douchebag hair?" I mean that is priceless. I might have to buy the magazine to find out what douchebag hair is.

Thanks Tech Support

My computer is over five years old, which is ancient in computer years, from what I gather. I have been wanting a new one for a while. I really wanted a laptop, but I can't afford it. My computer is so old that when I bought it, laptops weren't that cool yet. Or maybe it was just me.

Anyway, my tech guy, who loves to save me money, and who also is a frequent user of my piece-of-shit machine decided that something must be done. So he reformatted my piece of junk. The computer has been down for a few days while Max reloaded everything that is one of the reasons I haven't been posting a much recently. Now she's running great, I can even upload pictures to Blogger, who whould have thunk it. So I just wanted to post a big thank you to Maxi the techie - You were awesome last night on the reformatiing, what I can remember of it.

Just a shout out to Cax and Blackie

Vote No on Proposition 8

This is for all the California fans of the Property blog. It's important that we all vote against this measure, which would curtail all of the progress that our State has made on the issue of gay marriage. I am proud to be a California resident and I want to keep it that way.

I am also voting yes on the San Francisco amendment Proposition R, which seeks to rename the Oceanside water treatment facility the George W. Bush Sewage Plant. Awesome, someone in San Francisco has a great sense of humor.

More Sex

Riot Creative dropped off the rest of Sex on Dundas pictures, so I thought I throw a few more up here.

I don't know why I can't get more than these two to post, so I am going to publish these for now.

Hirst at Auction

From the New York Times:

LONDON — Against a backdrop of reeling financial markets and nervous investors, Sotheby’s and the British artist Damien Hirst forged ahead with “Beautiful Inside My Head Forever,” a highly publicized auction of 223 works, all by Mr. Hirst and all made within the last two years.
In a gamble that could have ramifications for other artists, Mr. Hirst was bypassing his dealers — the Gagosian Gallery, based in the United States, and White Cube, based in London — and taking his work straight to auction with a sale that began here on Monday night and concludes on Tuesday afternoon.
And there were signs that the bet was paying off: the first session’s total was $127.2 million, above the high estimate for the entire sale, $112 million....

And there you have it the recession has not slowed the art market. check the link if you want to read the rest of article. I particularly appreciate the quote by Tobias Meyer (head of Contemporary Art for Sotheby's) when he is talking about artists who are global in scope, like Hirst who's market is not as affected by local events.
For all intents and purposes this auction should have tanked, what with the financial sector in complete upheaval after this mornings news. But instead Hirst surpassed his high estimate, and his brand seems no less desirable. Normally a market flood like this one would be a bad thing, I guess we will just to wait and see. The sale continues tomorrow.

When He Smiles

I think Karen Carpenter has one of the best voices of all time. Her intonation is beautiful. I never knew that she was the drummer on this track. I always thought her brother played all the instruments.

This was always one of my favorite of their covers.

Somewhere over the rainbow - in Vaughan

I have been rehearsing for Mambo Italiano, which is running at the Vaughan Playhouse for three weeks. The show is gonna be really good, I am very impressed. I am also very tired

Frank and Phil, the lead actors, goofing off between scenes. These two are always up to no good. I'm constantly babysitting, but usually just laughing

Thank God Emily lent me her car, here is the rainbow that accompanied me home. It's a long way back to Toronto form Vaughan, luckily I am going against traffic. And today I had the rainbow out in front the whole way.
If anyone is interested in seeing the show. I can get half-off day of tickets, and matinees may be pay what you can. If you want to go let me know, and you can ride up with me.

Stand up to Cancer

So I don't know if anyone watched the Networks' Cancer Fundraiser last night, i assume if you watch network TV than you did. I missed it, but I thought I would post this original song with all of the current divas in it, from last night. Literally everyone, even Lady Gaga (who knew she'd made it?!) Anyway, I always love charity collaborations like this because it's all about the divas trying to out do one another without being too obvious. Poor Miley sounds dreadful, maybe that wasn't the best part for her? It's for a good cause and I'm pretty sure we all either have, or will be touched by Cancer, so take a listen, and tell me who rocks the diva standoff?

Wall-e for real

I loved Wall-E just as much as the next guy, but does anyone else see a problem here? First Big Dog and now these guys. If you don't remember Big Dog, you can go back to some of my earliest posts, it is terrifying. These little guys aren't as big, but their ability to think for themselves is definitely scary.

The Invisible Man

I know it's not as flashy as the other convention footage, but it matters to me. And what can you say, that is 98 degrees people.

Mccain and Candy

I don't agree with his politics, but Mccain ended strong in my opinion. The "ask not..." mantra resonates with my ideas about civic action. Anyway skip to 3:15 and watch the next 40 seconds or so. At first I thought Johnny Boy and Candy were fighting, but now I think it's foreplay. If someone would script their banter I would be such a happy puppy.

It's nice but I'd rather a Richter sailboat

Art collector Dakis Joannou, had Jeff Koons design a yacht for him.

It's no balloon dog but it'll do.

If you get drunk you'll find it funny

They don't mention her drug addiction, wonder why not?

Cindy may be a pretty face, but boy is she a bad public speaker. It was paiful to watch her last night. Max and I tried, and if we had not been accompanied by our good friend Vino Magnum we would not have made it. Her thank you at the beginning is priceless though.

Sex on Dundas

here are some of the shots that riot creative took for the Northern Yonge show at the Chelsea Room a few weeks back.

I had to put the low res shots up, because the others were to big, and blogger kept crashing.

I think they look great anyway.

Thank you so much to Fashion Crimes - who dressed me. The link for their blog is under my property advisors section. Take a moment to check them out.

And thanks again to Riot Creative - their website is www.riotcreative.com

Tina Fey is Sarah Palin

Don't worry I will get the Cindy Mccain speech up here as soon as it is on YouTube. My god she was painful. Still love her though. But this is about Palin, I hate to say it but I like her, she is definitely a Karen Walker. Great hair, and she looks totally freaky, in the sexual way. Tina Fey, would definitely do her SNL justice. I am mostly just glad that the RNC is over. God they are so boring, and Dana Bash needs a hamburger - if I have to watch her emaciated frame wax on about how "the base is motivated" anymore I might gone nuts. As an aside, did anybody else catch the tete a tete between Johnny boy and his Candy Cain at the end of his speech? If that didn't look like a domestic spat I don't know what would. Maybe she thought he was boring.
*thanks Cameron for the heads up on this one.

Bellow is the Palin's acceptance speech after Mccain announced her as his running mate. The musical intro is unreal.

Milk

I can't fucking wait for this movie to come out. Harvey Milk is one of my favorite figures in history. His story has always moved me, and it's about time that it has been put on film. He helped define San Francisco in the later half of the 20th century, and his impact on gay rights is undeniable. As an American of Irish decent and a proud Hag, I have always been drawn to this story because of the convergence in my own life that is present in the history of Harvey Milk's rise to political prowess; and his death at the hand of a raging Irish bigot. Those social themes are still simmering under the surface in San Francisco. Sean Penn seems perfectly cast, and it doesn't hurt that the two hottest actors in Hollywood are also starring, James Franco and Emile Hirsch. The former I am sure everyone is familiar with, especially now that Pineapple Express has become such a hit. Hirsch, who is probably less well know but equally as endearing was the star of last year's sleeper hit, Into the Wild. I'd take either, or both!

Gonna be Iron, like a Lion, in Zion

I have been feeling super overwhelmed with work and grant writing, and all the other things that eat up so much time. This song has always been one of my favorite Marley tracks. It has been pumping me up the last few days, motivating me to get things done.
