Baldwin Hills

If I was at all tech savvy I would do a few of these. There are endless montage possibilities with the two Hills. I hope the guys on the After Show get into B Hills. I am obsessed boo.

I'm Famous

I got offered a gig today to do a, and I quote, " VERY adult animated pilot..." and I may get the job because of this gig I did. I guess there is some sweet justice since A.D/D asked me to bill them for my hours, and then never paid me. Shady. But this is the second voice project that has come my way in under a week. So hopefully they will both work out.

Come Back Whitney

I need ya gurl.

Barry's courting the ladies

Barack Obama signed landmark legislation, that should have been drafted 80 years ago. The Ledbetter Fair Pay Act will make equal pay mandatory. Duh.

Better get out to Brandeis

More bad news for the Art World. Brandeis University has announced that they are going to close their prestigious Rose Art Museum. And to make matters worse they are preparing to sell their entire collection. The Rose's collection is estimated to be worth 350 to 400 million dollars, but could fetch far less in the current art market. This is such seriously bad news that it makes me want to get down to Mass. before the University can follow through with its rape and pillage. Of course the Times is quick to point out that the University is going to face stiff opposition and that the State's Attorney General is investigating whether the sale is legal. But even if it is, anyone who knows anything should be trying to dissuade Brandeis, not only because it is financially stupid but also because it means that one of the most important collections in New England is going to be dispersed all over the globe.

Thanks Heidi

This reminds me of that infamous night at Baby Dolls. Do you remember Emily, how about you Max? I wish I had seen that stripper suck that piece of paper off your face with her poon.

David Mirvish Books on Art

There is a sad rumor floating around out there that David Mirvish Books on Art is closing. This is really bad news for the Toronto Art scene. DMBA is an important institution, no U of T art student that I know has spent a year at school without having to trek over to Mirvish Village to buy text books. And even if you don't have something specific in mind, you can lose yourself in the racks at DMBA. And yes that is a Frank Stella in the picture, wonder what David Mirvish is going to do with it when the bookstore closes.

Veatrice Rice - Fierce Nails

Ms Rice, from the Jimmy Kimmel Show sadly passed away from Cancer this past week, but not before she amassed this incrediable collection of fierce nails.

Tax hike would put Chuck over its famed Two Bucks

OMG this is horrible news. It makes me sad that I don't live in California anymore. Because if I did right now I would be organizing a protest at the Charles Shaw winery. For those of you not familiar with Two Buck Chuck, it is the most amazing wine, well actually it is just ok, but it is two dollars a bottle. To read the article from the Los Angeles Times click here. The abridged version is that due to a Schwarzenegger tax hike on wine the famed brand will be force to raise the prices on their bottle of grape goodness. More bad news in this time of economic uncertainty. Isn't anything sacred? I guess it wouldn't be so bad if we had to call it Three Buck Chuck, but we'll all know it wont be the same. Below is my favourite passage in the article. It is a quote from Jamie Kaiser, a resident of Huntington Beach.

"I would still buy it," Kaiser said as she loaded a case of Charles Shaw Chardonnay into her car, "but it seems like they are just taxing everything now and nothing with the state budget ever changes."

True the budget never changes, but keep loading those CASES of Chuck and you can probably sleep through the next few months of upheaval.

O baby baby

Britney is causing all kinds of fuss with this one.

Britney Spears is a musical genius, you may not agree but that is because you are an idiot. Anyone who can have as many hits with one word choruses as Britney, deserves our undying love. I mean gimme and womanizer alone are musical masterpieces. This song is causing a stir because it isn't about a girl named Amy. The only thing that matters to me is that she is able to use, ha ha hee hee ha ha ho, as lyrics. Now that is talent.

The old man's a writer

My dad gets published here and there and recently he was referenced in this Times piece. And here is the link to Dad's most recent article. Check them out, and go to http://www.opednews.com/ for more.

Yes, Beyonce sounds good, but let's talk about how the Obamas dance like white people

Is it just me? Not only do Barrrack and Michelle look like white people on the dance floor. They look like they can barely move. Barrrrack is doing the two step, and that spin is painful. Don't they take lessons before the go dancing in front of the entire nation?

Lady Gaga - Fierce nails

I have been feeling guilty ever since I posted the pics of Lady Gaga's unfortunate face. So yesterday I went searching for pictures of her fierce nails. And let me tell you they are fierce.

Yup those are checkered.

Nice and natural

I couldn't find any of the stills from Poker Face, her nails are givin' it in that video.

Ahh, what a relief I don't feel bad anymore. I have been championing Lady Gaga for a while, and have a soft spot for her and the whole concept. Go Corporation Hipster.

Lost should be called, What?

I know so many people who can't wait for the new season of Lost, (aka What? - I mean that island disappeared people.) I tried to get into it, watched about 2 1/2 seasons before that damn magical island made me want to kill myself, and the entire cast. But it seems there are still crazy fans out there. Every time I see the trailer for the new season someone I am with inevitably starts freaking out. Fuck, who cares. Anyway for all those fans out there Lost (What?) starts again tonight at 8. I will be at the AGO, having drinks at the Frank.

Thanks Lauren for the post title. Lost really should be called What? However, that doesn't absolve you of your ridiculous love for this piece of crap.

Fantasia - Fierce and Sweaty

I had to post this for two reasons. First her nails of course are amazing, and she is giving them prime placement, which I also approve of. And also because I feel her pain, some people just sweat a lot. But girl under the titties that's rough.
Thanks Michael K.

OMG Patti LuPone is fierce

I never double post. Usually things I put up here don't suit the other blog but this is too fierce to miss.

During a recent performance of Gypsy in New York, some inappropriate theatre-goer got a piece of Patti's mind. This is even better than when I went. Check out the audio below.

MLK - I Have a Dream

CNN aired the I Have Dream Speech today. I watched it and tears streamed down my face. I am not like a lot of progressive Americans, I have serious reservations about Barrack, but that does not change the significance of this moment in history. Martin Luther King's words 40 plus years ago still resonate, and make tomorrow all the more poignant.

Democracy Now
also celebrated Martin Luther King today with a clip from Beyond Vietnam, Dr. King's speech from 1967, which he delivered at New York's Riverside Church. Below is that speech in its entirety. I had never heard it before, and I think it speaks even more to the evils that plague the nation today.

Can we truly believe that Obama is the leader to fulfill Dr. King's great hopes for us as a people?

Barbie Wire @ Rearview Mirror

Friday night we went to see Clara Venice, otherwise known as Barbie, do her thing in Kensington. All images are courtesy of Nick Kozak.

Sundays are for Football

Max and I watched both the NFC and AFC championships yesterday. I was definitely more interested in the Steelers/Ravens game but in hindsight I think the Cardinals/Eagles game was much more exciting. Here are some highlights from both games

By the way I totally want my new rap name to be Deuce Lutui. And here are the Steelers and Ravens highlights.

SuperBowl Sunday is only two weeks away. Let's go Steelers

I knew she was hideous

Although her music videos hide it well, and her body is fierce. Lady GaGa is terrifying to look at.

I have been wondering for a while when we were going to get to see her up close and personal, to decide if she is actually hot. Well, thanks to Dlisted we don't have to wonder anymore. She's still fierce though, even if she is a little fug.

Dear Paul,

Yes, work that green eyeshadow, hustler.
Thanks Lauren

My dress is famous

A dress that I bought at FC. which I aptly names the Slut Dress was on Dlisted today on a wannabe model.

here's me in the dress, on my birthday.

We had a Disney-themed party. I was Ursala from the Little Mermaid, hence the boobs and the tentacles, made out of boa.

Me - Fierce Nails

I love to shout out other people with amazing nails. But sometimes you have to throw modesty to the wind and shout out yourself. So here they are my amazing nails of '08.

Most of the time when I get them done it is for Northern Yonge related events. Like our August concert called Sex on Dundas.

I could not find a very good/flattering photo of this set, but I called these the cottage french, because I wore them up to Lauren's cottage. They were light pink with brown french tips. And this particular photo is from Paul's goodbye/hand-over celebration. Whiskey Sours anyone?

O, at the Collie Buddz show at Circa. Such a disappointing night, but we did learn about the magic of Pussy Juice. Don't ask.

A short set, from the summer. Here we are at the first Studio Gallery show. I haven't been there in a while but I wish those guys all the best. They are awesome. Check out Vaneska's blog here.

From the Northern Yonge show @ the Bathurst and Harbor House. You know who you are.

These are actually the same set as above, but I wanted to get a color image of them in there. Sorry Lauren I couldn't crop this one for some reason. Love you!

Press shot for Northern Yonge. Thanks again Camille.

I think these might have actually been '07, but too close to call. Anyway, there you have it. My fierce nails of 2008! Let's hope 2009 affords the opportunity to get even fiercer.

OMFG

Heidi Montag-Pratt I have to give it to you. Tacky and Fierce! Love it, but she should have gone longer. It's ok Heidi, let it out.

Why didn't I know that he was so hot

Of course I am referring to the dreadlocked drummer.

O Bruce

A new year, but same old sexy. And yes I am talking about the guy with the accordion.

Can't wait for season 2

Flight of the Concords is one of the best shows on TV. And I am totally in love with Bret, no offense Jemaine. They both look hot though, and I am not even into muscles. Season 2 starts this month, are you ready?

Beth Chapman - fierce nails

Ok, I admit that I get totally sucked into Dog the Bounty Hunter.

But I think I am really obsessed with Beth.

Her nails are so fierce, and she is always rockin' it in her slut boots. I loved the episode when some fugitive broke one of Beth's nails, oh man she was pissed.

Blizzards make me sleepy

The snow storm started last night around 10:30. I should have known that the beautiful winter weather was just temporary. Whenever there is bad weather I go on musical metaphor mission. (apparently I also get really good at alliterations, who knew.) So this is my bad weather song for the day.

The only really bad thing about this storm is that I wont be able to ride my bike for a while, and I was so enjoying the winter biking. O well

Thanks Virginia

I know it's a little late but I hadn't checked my university email in a while. Can't wait for you to get back from Berlin.

I love this guys photos

Sometimes when I am not doin' too much I like to snoop around blogger. It's like creeping on facebook, but it can be way sexier. And other bloggers are usually strangers so it's more like sociological research right? Anyway, I found this blog,

Unfortunately my couch is heading in this direction as well. I doubt it will look this good.

I can't decide which of these two is my personal favorite. The image above grabbed me immediately but the subject matter below is right up my alley. There are tons more on the blog, and a whole series of hotels that I really like.

Thoughts for 2009

I have always had a surface-level relationship with my New Years Resolutions. Likely because forced self-reflection is about as effective as court ordered rehab, I digress. Anyway something is definitely different about 2009, because I feel a strong urge to make some concrete resolutions and stick to them. 2008 was a tumultuous year, I turned 23, definitively an adult. I graduated from University, and I started thinking about the next step. And that is where I stalled, and I have been spinning my wheels ever since. So long in fact that I choose to to take a break there in the mud and have a proverbial sandwich and a nap. So my first resolution is to wake up. A lot harder than you might think. Waking up, especially when the days look short and grey can be down right impossible. But it has to be done. So now I'm up and it's time to get over it, hence the next resolution. Get over it. That one applies to so many things; lost love, disappointment and my own ego. Getting over it could take the whole year easily. But because I want to seriously commit to myself, I have one more resolution which will help propel me through the getting over it, and that is to get on with it. Get on with it. Good resolution. You can never underestimate the power of letting go. It is especially important for me, because I cling to control. So if I can resolve to just get on with it, then I open myself up to the changes that are happening. For so long this past year I have felt the need to take control of the transitions in my life, analyze them, and label them. Makes for easy storage, but that is just it, I don't want to store my life I want to live it. So to get what I want I am going to wake myself up, get over all those things that have kept me in bed, and just get on with it. Get stuff done and WATCH as my actions bring me closer to the control I want.
