Leafs 2009-10

Holy over-the-top batman... can't wait though. Season starts tomorrow, in honor of me.

There's no place like home

Tomorrow's my birthday which makes me nostalgic, obviously. And when I get nostalgic I think of only one place....

It's funny because when I lived in San Francisco I didn't experience seasons like we do here in Toronto. But since I've lived here my birthday has also been how I associate our shift into fall/winter. (Hello, did anyone else see a few flakes of snow today, pretty sure I did!) And believe me I have never seen anyone skiing in San Francisco before, but if it actually snowed there I am sure we'd have the bomb ass mountains, right downtown. Anyway, when I got home I saw the bellow ad for California on TV and I had to smile to myself. These ridiculous California tourism propaganda videos are great.

And check out this older one where Arnold gives the punchline, "only one question ... when can you start." Just remember you have to read that with an Austrian accent.

out and about

It has been a busy week or so. I've settled into my routine at MTK and studying for the LSAT's but I've also managed to have a bit of fun...

Last weekend I went to the Candice Breitz opening at the Power Plant

A segment from Him, which I had actually seen before and hadn't realized. Paul and I saw Him and Her during our art blitz in Chelsea last spring. Very eyebrow raising that I took this picture, but David Chang and I were in there all alone.

Emily and David at the opening

I loved the look of the girl int he powder blue sweater, and it turned out she was a friend of D Chang's

Heading to another opening at OCAD

I made a grand entrance with Paul Kozak. i.e. we snuck in via the fire escape. What? The line-up was ridiculous.

And then Saturday Justin and I went to the Queen Street Art Crawl to check out La Krause

The lovely Lori-Anne genius behind La Krause headwear and vintage re-design.

After our perusal Justin and I took a short ride down Queen to check out the Blue's Society backyard BBQ and concert.

Natalie and Max had us over for dinner, after our awesome day.

Upon my arrival home. No where to park, o well.

Sunday I stayed home and watched football.

Michael K knows newsworthy.

There is probably some sort of blogger code of ethics that I am about to break. But hell, it's blogging so rules need not apply.

I am re-posting Michael K of Dlisted's, (if you don't know you betta ax somebody, that somebody being me, most likely,) recent breaking news post regarding the take down of a bank robber by a gentleman resembling many a grandfather. Take a look, and then read MK's brilliance.

Warning To All Criminals: A Pepaw Will Take You Down!

A 23-year-old dude was trying to rob a bank in Wisconsin when a vigilante pepaw came out of nowhere and tackled his thieving ass to the ground! All together now: PEPAWS ARE NOT THE ONE!

You know that robber strolled into the bank, noticed the pepaw and thought to himself, "Pfft. That grandpa ain't going to do shit." Well, guess what, bitch got owned by an oldie! Dude was trying to do hood rat stuff, but that old man wasn't going to allow that to happen. Beware of flying pepaws!

Yes, grandpa probably broke his hip and crushed the caramel squares he had in his pocket, but fighting criminals is in his blood so he couldn't help himself.

The best part is when a memaw opens her own can of whoopass (smells like Ovaltine and Icy Hot) on the robber by kicking him while he's down. Somebody give these old crime-fighting bitches their own show!

Sexy Bitch

This song first caught my attention because the radio edit is "sexy fish." Hahahaha. I was jammin' along and then the sexy fish happened and I did a

"O no he DID NOT!!!!"

So I youtubed the video and was relieved that the song is actually Sexy Bitch. But I notice that the water, mermaid, fish metaphor abounds. Anyway, funny!

Also just a heads up - I know I have been youtube crazed on the property spot of late, which sucks for the office bound, I realize. But I was pretty computer free all summer. So I am making up for lost time.

Check it out! New musical obsession Cuff the Duke

Justin has gotten me into this band. They've been around awhile but I hadn't heard of them. Check out their myspace.

Film Fest and Canada's Walk of Fame.

Friday night Justin was my date to the Mildred's Temple Kitchen party for the TIFF film Passenger Side.

Don't we look cute

Ivan is one of the sexy servers at MTK. He wasn't my biggest fan on Friday though. Maybe because he was working and I was drinking. That might have had something to do with it.

At least Andrea put on a good face

And then yesterday I got to work Canada's Walk of Fame which airs tonight at 9 on Global. When I arrived at the Canadian Opera Company Four Seasons Centre Blue Rodeo was doing their sound check.

working as a seat filler for the sound check. Tough gig eh?

Tom Cochrane was being inducted along with BR and he joined them for the finale to sing Lost Together. That's him in the middle between Jim Cuddy and Greg Keelor. I actually got to sing onstage with Tom and Blue Rodeo because I was standing in for Howie Mandel and the other inductees who were also part of the finale.

Elisha Cuthbert and Rachelle Lefevre were presenters.

This is possibly the cutest picture I got. That's Gordon Lightfoot peeking onstage during Blue Rodeo's performance.

The finale, with all of the inductees on stage. On the left, that's Kim Cattrall between Dean and Dan of Dsquared.

at the afterparty at the Sheraton. I was ready for a seat.

Lindsay no one believes you

When I saw this picture for the first time I thought this was a dlisted post about Donatella Versace or some other old bag. It was not until I read the caption that I realized it was La Lohan. And even then i had to do a double take. She looks so old and worn out. Man, lady you need to step up the moisturizer and get some SPF 60 stat. And about that shirt. Is Lindsay so delusional that she actually thinks people are buying this? Or maybe she is being ironic, but I'm not sure she has it in her.

Yes Yes, with Boys

Last night Justin, David Chang and I went to the Yes Yes Party at the Wreck Room.

We took a short break from our Kylie dance party to have a photo shoot.

Hey, if there is a Bud Light rep out there, we should be getting royalties for this shot.

Roomies

David Chang's arrival livened us right up.

Even though he was super bummed about the rip in his top.

My beautiful boys

More good looking dudes, including my new favourite person Salvatore, he's the one in the middle. He's a riot.

Yerxa and Heidi, pose with Justin.

By the end of the night everyone looked a bit worse for wear.
