The Spreckels Mansion in Pacific Heights. Alma Spreckels was an avid art collector and eventually gave San Francisco the Legion of Honor. The house was built in 1913, and was later owned by Danielle Steele, obviously.
The Octagon House, built based on a nineteenth century idea that people who lived within the shape were happier and healthier, serves as a museum of arts and craft design.
The Queen Anne style is iconic San Francisco, although this row is unusual in Pacific Heights.
Perhaps one of my favorite San Francisco mansions, the Bourn House at 2520 Webster. Built by Willis Polk it was the home of William B. Bourn who headed Pacific Gas and Electric, and was perhaps the richest man in California at the time this house was built.
The Hass-Lilienthal House, also in the Queen Anne style. Built in 1886.
